Prong Frame Soil resistivity profiling
Prong Frame Soil resistivity profiling
- Price: Price on application
The Prong Frame ERT system is the predecessor to and a cut down version of the Wombat soil resistivity profiler. Instead of using a towing vehicle and compressor for effort free operation like Wombat, it requires use of muscles and endurance of the operator. It is useful where requirements are rudimentary – and just a few soil profiles need acquiring at low setup cost or the operator just wants to do the work more cheaply. If the operator does not mind walking through paddocks and pressing prongs of this instrument into the ground at each profiling site by stepping on them then they can survey large datasets at walking speed with minimum setup cost.
In contrast to continuous mapping tools, the stop-go Wombat and Prong Frame tools tend to be cheaper, robustly calibrated and give excellent depth resolution. They also can collect induced polarization and chargeability data related to soil texture. What they cannot do is survey continuously at quad-bike travel speed.
The Prong Frame is lifted and walked from one site to another and pressed into soil like a shovel at each site before initiating a reading.
