Transition zones (swamps) and log obstructed waterways can be surveyed using our Argo 6x6 boat shaped skid-steer ATV with extra peripheral floatation added around it. Six wheels propel it in water as deep as 800mm then in deeper water the wheels can splash it along slowly but a 15hp outboard motor attached to the rear that is co-operable with the wheels can be used. We have used this travelling up rapids in rivers and over exposed logs in deep water while towing a 100m floating streamer but potentially, if we were to do it again I would use a submarine streamer and go downstream with a portable Kayak, Canoe or Raft. The Argo can climb and descend steep banks using its winch.

Extra floatation is needs in difficult circumstances as if the front is climbing up over a log above water level and the rear is tilted floating on the water then it is vulnerable to filling with water.
