Towed floppy loop for orchards
Towed floppy loop for orchards
- Price: Price on application
Great for passing between tree rows in orchards, our towed floppy loop is suited to widths up to 2.4m and lengths up to 8m for use as a transmitter or receiver. It does not resonate vibrations like a rigid loop. High arched supports contain the cross wires and 2-inch diameter, thick-walled, PVC hose contains the longitudinal wires. If we repeat the design then we will put an arch at the front too and pull with two ropes rather than one like we do for our skid-steer cart.
This design has merit but we abandoned it due to excessive wear and tear on the sled parts of the design. Small wheels were added to reduce wear and tear but rocks then wedge in the wheel housings. If made again we will make four skids, front and rear, from 20mm thick UHMWPE.
The design is easy to pack, does not blow away like towed mats, and does not drift on roads as poorly as mats. Its big downfall, particularly if both transmitter and receiver are towed one behind the other, is that it hooks around obstacles when turning corners such as at headlands in orchards. This means that either the driver is stopping and unhooking repeatedly or a second person must walk along unhooking off obstacles all the time.
The 2nd image supplied is of our Towed Mat Loop which is separately listed. It may be towed in tandem with a towed floopy loop.
