Wallaby wheels are critical to its success. Design of non-metallic large diameter wheels, that do not hit obstacles at steep angle of incidence like small diameter wheels do, is not trivial. Add the need to survive hundreds of kilometres of off-road cross-paddock travel over thorns and rocks and design gets more difficult. A glass fibre reinforced nylon rim with hub side-force bracing reinforcement coupled with Kevlar bead tyres filled with urethane foam shielded solid urethane cores is our choice. We get these made in bulk orders. The urethane foam allows some impact absorption – without it the tyre tread get cut off quickly on rocky roads. The tyre is of modestly large width to distribute forces more acceptably to reduce wear.
