Many aspiring TEM practitioners think they can make a towed, or otherwise mobile, TEM system, and they are generally correct, but once they try, they encounter all the challenges that we have spent twenty years addressing. Most of our design solutions will only be evident to aspiring practitioners only after they gain considerable experience.

The Wallaby system has achieved >50km per day cross-country production in partially cleared farmland for 10 day continuous stretches, imaging to around 100m deep, without any maintenance within those 10 days.

The Wallaby platform will generally be coupled with a 500kg to 3000kg towing vehicle. Towing with heavier vehicles is possible but not recommended due to impossibility of the driver detecting damage to Wallaby and the high cost of paddock bashing large expensive towing vehicles.

When a large heavy vehicle is used for towing Wallaby, in a float trailer, to site, a smaller vehicle such as a quad bike is needed for towing Wallaby, however such small off-road vehicles are banned by many companies due to poor safety records. Larger side-by-side vehicles also are risky, heavier to tow, and rougher to use. Because of this seemingly impossible conundrum, the Wallaroo system has been developed with a much slower walk-beside electric tractor.

For security reasons, you may wish to purchase a fully enclosed trailer to float Wallaby. If using a quad bike to tow Wallaby, then a short drawbar version of Wallaby can fit, with a quad bike, or side-by-side within a generic enclosed double axle trailer. Before deciding to buy Wallaby, potential purchasers are strongly urged to conduct business planning including a solution for floating Wallaby to sites and for storing Wallaby overnight away from vandals. 

Wallaby can be sold in a package deal with AgTEM electronics (and pre-amps). Wallaby can also be purchased without electronics, then appropriate electronics such as the Monex Geoscope TerraTEM24 (with continuous acquisition option) can be used with it. Many practitioners may already have a TerraTEM24 or other instrument that can be used with Wallaby. If purchased with AgTEM or TerraTEM24, then our ResImage package will be suitable, without need for modification, for processing the data.
