Can Wallaroo In-loop see deeply?

  • Price: Price on application
The Wallaroo In-loop receiver will detect just as much deep signal as an external (Slingram) front or rear loop but overprinted on that signal will be considerable system response. If amplifiers are turned to high gain, then they saturate, leaving only late time (deep) signal for detection. If they are turned down, then deep signal is lost in noise. Also overprinted on the in-loop receiver deep signal is considerable extra near-surface response as the near surface right under the receiver is highly energized. To see deeply with this configuration, the system response must be accurately removed. It can be modelled accurately at a test site, but coupling will fluctuate slightly so that a varying multiple of this system response must be always removed in order to see deeply. This is not uncommon as with the SkyTEM system, this multiple of system response is often left as an unknown variable in modelling and solved as part of the inversion process. If data is obtained suitably late in time, then late time data beyond where ground signal is detected, can be used to regress for and solve the system response multiple.
